you cannot hold me captive
welcome to hanami
You are standing within the greatest empire known to mortals.
Unlike any other empire or realm before it, Hanami has successfully brought together the strengths and minds of all known races. Though there was cause for hope and celebration at its foundation, Hanami is still only a young empire and she is fragile. Unpopularity with the other influential families
has weakened the imperial rule. It now falls to our youngest Empress yet to tend to the grievances and wishes of those that surround her in order to bring back the empire to its former state.
Whether it crumbles or prevails is up to you. Choose wisely because the fate of Hanami really is in your hands.

[attr="class","box1"]Heart beating at a hundred beat per second. Adrenaline coursing through his body. Wind brushing past him as he leapt from the rooftops.
He technically did not feel any of those things. His heart had stopped beating over almost a century ago. But in moments like this, he almost forgot that he was.... dead? He didn't expect others to understand it. But it was like his memory was playing back what it was like to feel the thrill of a chase.
The shouts and cries of his pursuers started to drown in the dull drone of the Jinyin marketplace. He leapt down into an alley leading into the marketplace. He would lose them for good with the chaos that these bastards would cause. He would usually clear himself a direct path but in his attempts to stay hidden he dodged around bodies.
He heard various shouts of 'he's here!' and 'that way!'
He clicked his jaw. It wasn't their damn business. Who the hell did they think they were?
He heard the squelch of some overripe piece fruit hit him in his back.
He snarled. The silence spread like an illness as did his anger.
He let out a shout and swung out to his right. An elderly elf received his full force and was sent sprawling with whatever she was carrying scattered on the ground. Several others went to help her but other than that nobody moved. Not even the ones dressed up in their uniforms with their big swords dared to step in.
"Anybody want to add anything else?" he growled.
A wall of silence was his only reply. He didn't distinguish that many emotions these days but their silent resentment was screaming at him. He smiled. He took pleasure in the ferocity with which they scorned him. What good were their glares? What had they achieved? He was still better off than most of them anyway.
They pretended they were on some kind of moral high ground. And yet with the clouds as his sails, he was soaring far above them all.
The voices returned. His mind focussed once more. His rage simmered down to some sort of grim satisfaction. He turned on his heel and stormed into the sheltered alleyways of the city. Nevermind- he would lose them here anyway.
He hadn't intended to make a scene. But he was only too happy to remind them of their place when they played up.

The Mornful Siren
When was the last time she had been in a proper town? It seemed like forever ago. People here didn;t know her face, her true name, or the blood that stained her hands. She had left those lands far behind, changed her name, changed her look. Yet even still, whenever she saw people going about their everyday lives she was absolutely seized with fear, unable to speak, to move, to do anything, like a doe caught in a trap.
The only exceptions were kindered souls, eyes that silently cried, bodies and minds aged beyond their time like her. With them, and only them, Aiko could act, could comfort and be of good cheer, like she used to so often be. It made her feel alive, feel whole, less broken than before she had met them. Yet in the end her kindered souls always left her alone, helped and full, ready to take on the world alone.
But then she was left, empty and broken once more for their loss.
So even though she feared people now, feared being found, feared being dragged back to the jelous lords dungeon. She forced herself to be social to find those who needed her, to find those who could fill her empty heart, even if the encounter was breif, being able to feel alive, for a day, an afternoon, even an hour, it was all she knew.
So she was nearby when chaos broke out in the local market, all she saw was a whirl of black, screaming and shouting, and an urge she couldn;t deny, an urge to run, to follow. Feet pounding on the ground after the mysterious figure, knowing only the compulsion, the need to catch him.
She saw her chance when he ducked into an alleyway, and she followed him, he couldn;t move as fast among them as her, she was slimmer, nimbler, even for an elf, and had the bonus of having grown up around them. So once inside it was easy to keep him in her sight.
"What did you do?" she asked quietly from where she stood, only moving forward as necessary to keep him in her eyesight and in hearing distance of her voice.

[attr="class","box1"]A voice called out. Yun was about to dismiss it before he realised he was alone in the alley. He risked a glance behind him- a lone elf stood in the center of the road. Wide eyes blinked at him innocently? He couldn'tplace the emotion. He couldn't tell if she was young or old either- what had once been easily distinguishable features now all seemed the same to him.
Did she have some form of misplaced justice? Was she there for an apology? Something to say? Yun was clueless to the fact and made no effort to investigate any further. Without breathing another word, he turned on his heel to fle-
He froze in place. Commotion and chaos rose again from the marketplace- his pursuers had caught up. He let out a sharp breath. Everything and everyone just seemed to be getting in his way today.
Of course. It would be no issue for him. He had been doing this for decades, he would feel like dying if he were caught out in this game on his own territory. Luckily, if he could count on the crowds in the marketplace to do one thing, it would be to create enough of a distraction for Yun to make his getaway. He quickly assessed the surrounding area- rooftops shaded him from the view of anyone from above, the housing here was some of the cheaper ones. Which meant that some of them must have skipped on buying expensive locks.
He tried first the door with that had taken the most beating. He wasn't sure what kind of a person lived here but he was glad he could always rely on the stupid optimism of the elves time and again. A rough shove and the wood splintered around the lock before swinging right open.
He couldn't speak for the skills of others. But he noted that the door was a dead giveaway if they did any detailed checks. He would need something m--
Ah. It does have a purpose after all.
He drew his sword. He let every frustration, every inch of anger be drawn up to the surface so he was wore it all in his expression. He found the elf. He stormed up to her, purposely coming too close so she'd have to take a step back. His footfall heavy so the mud and grime of the alley now stained her dress.
"You seem to be lost. So allow me to make things very clear to you. When a group of men- you'll know who I'm talking about- pass through here. You're going to stand there and cry or weep or whatever you will distract them. And you will point them down that alleyway right there. If you try anything and I mean anything funny. I will make it my last task on Earth to make you suffer in the worst way possible." He said in a low voice but he made sure to articulate every word so there was no mistake in what he would get from her.

The Mornful Siren
Aiko stared at the elf as he stalked over to a nearby door and smashed it open like it was nothing. Okay, so definately don't get physical with this man, he will own you, and you don;t need that right now Aiko, just, try to talk him down, you're usually so good with words.
She didn't have time to think of what to say though before he was wielding his sword and storming up to the petite fae woman, who just watched him calmly. She was petite and he was mighty, but she had lost everything and did not fear death, so though she was not a death seeker, it was rather hard to intimidate someone whose only loved ones were awaiting her beyond the stroke of a sword or a swim to the depths.
"Put that thing down before you hurt yourself," she stated with a roll of her dark orbs as she watched him, gently running her hand up the blade and pushing it downwards to face the ground, her eyes remaining focused on the man in front of her.
The shouting words told her he had stolen something, or at least tried to. What he stole wasn't obvious though, most of his equipment was well worn and old, like he'd been wearing it for awhile....maybe it was just food then, she could relate to that. She had been destitute and she had been opulently rich, now she had a skillset that let her get by comfortably, but one never truly forgot what it was like being on either end of the spectrum.
"How about, instead of doing an obvious ploy, you take me with you? If they find us I can use my magic to blind them long enough for us to escape," she stated, exceedingly reasonably sounding for someone who currently had just gotten a sword pointed at her.

[attr="class","box1"]"D o you think this is a joke?" He asked, his expression darkened and he raised the sword against her gentle touch. He looked into her eyes, fighting to see if there was anything he could recognise- an emotion, a look that would explain why she seemed to think there was an 'us' or why he should listen to her. Perhaps she had worked with him once before? No. He would have remembered complaining if he were paired with the likes of her.
No. He didn't recognise her. He didn't understand her. She was just another elf who had decided to meddle when she should have kept her head down.
"Put that down? Us?" He repeated her words, letting them sink in as well. "What am I? Your dog?"
He bared his teeth and in one fluid movement, he raised his sword, aiming it so the hilt would hit her with full force on the side of the face.
"Take that as a warning and if you dare come close to me again- know that I won't be using the hilt of the sword." He said. Once again, he listened for his pursuers but the chaos in the market had now drowned out any individual voices he could pick up. Any second they would fi-
A young, scrawny thing now blocked his exit. He obviously hadn't expected to find Yun here- with any luck he could be scared away before it played out into to a fight scene.
