WHEN WE'RE YOUNG & DON'T KNOW ANY BETTER
»»————- ♡ ————-««
Mornings always seemed to pass by so quickly in the capital. Blink once. The first rays of light were already breaking over the city walls. Blink twice. Shopkeepers and merchants started appearing and preparing for the day ahead. A few seconds more and servants were already running frantically to finish the day's preparations before their masters awoke.
He gave broad smiles and friendly greetings as familiar faces flashed past him.
Jae-ha was familiar with the morning routine, but it seemed funny watching it unfold before him. Through the Empress' kindness, he was exempt from work whilst he allowed his tail to grow back. Usually this meant staying in his room for the week, but he couldn't resist one more trip outside before he went back.
He loved the city best just after it had rained. There were small canals (about an arm's length and a foot deep) that ran along the city to clear the water and guide it back to the river. Nobody else here really understood it but the water felt different after it had fallen from the sky than it did in his room. He dipped his toes in the water and would often follow it all the way down until he reached the city limits. There were times he wished he could follow all the way back to the sea.
But that made it sound like he hated the city. Which he didn't. He was curious about the outside but he loved his life as it was- and the people in it.
Oooh! Speaking of whom-
He was going to buy some pastries to share for breakfast. He quickly turned on his heel and travelled at a half-skip half-run back up to the shops before they ran out of all his favourite treats.
