looks
When someone first looks at Ryuu their notice his wings. His feathers hold overtones of several cream and brown colors, the dark browns not getting any deeper than a milk chocolate color. The feathers that accent the rest of his body and throughout his hair are of the same tones. The feathers that show through his black hair almost look like ornaments rather than real feathers. If one tries to pull one of his feathers from his hair it's incredibly painful, Ryuu being very tender-headed. He stands right around the same height as your normal male harpy, and his wingspan matches perfectly up to his height as well, sticking to that somewhat average size.
Ryuu's talons are razor sharp, the same color as his hair. The skin near his talons match the darker brown of his feathers. Overall his coloring is very neutral and natural, akin to that of his eagle companion Akash. His eyes, just like Akash are also the darkest brown, border-lining on black. Sometimes the start and end of his pupil isn't even visible, and when he gets angry his eyes seem to adopt an almost soulless gaze to them.
If one isn't distracted by his wings and talons, they are definitely distracted by the tattoos that cover a great majority of his body. He has great pride in his tattoos, and they all have a meaningful connection to him, especially the script that covers his entire back. He'll take the time to point out every tattoo and explain it to you if you had the time, because talking about then never gets old.

charms
Ryuu has learned recently that he is quite a passionate being. Everything that happens around him always provokes some kind of deep emotional response from him. Maybe his body and mind are trying to catch up from all those years he lost being able to express his emotions. There is passion in everything he does, and he never tries to accomplish something without giving 120% of his effort. Even when it comes to his relationships he is incredibly loyal. He cherishes every moment he has with his significant other, and easily waits on them hand and foot if they desire it. He tries not to smother them, and is always mindful of space when they need it. He truly tries to make everyone in his life happy and content, sometimes even at the expense of himself. He might try to keep people so happy because he fears being alone, most likely from witnessing his parents being killed, or the fact his relationship with his brothers is nonexistent.
Ryuu cannot hold his opinions or emotions in if he tried. He is the epitome of wearing his heart on his sleeve. While he doesn't cry a river on a regular basis he feels moved when people are upset -- even a stranger. Ryuu will still feel for them, and even might approach them to try and brighten up their day. While positive emotions show through, negative emotions do so as well. It might be a product from his upbringing, but he is incredibly temperamental. He doesn't know how to stand in line and wait. Ryuu can't last long in an argument without losing his head and going off the rails screaming. His fuse is short, and that's definitely inherited from his father. His father was also known for his deadpan, sarcastic attitude -- another thing Ryuu regrets that has been passed down to him. When someone says something that he deems 'stupid' he HAS to comment with some kind of outlandish sarcastic comment. Sarcasm just rolls off his lips, and sometimes people can't quite figure out of he's being sarcastic or serious. Normally when his face breaks out in a smile you have your answer -- No Smile? Then you've set off his temper ....which is never a good thing.
His years in the military gave him a quite morbid sense of humor. Joking about death and violence is something he does quite often. It might be a way that he copes with his past, yet sometimes that morbid side of himself comes out at all the wrong times. There have been a few friendships ended because of his morbid side. His past is most likely the cause of his daredevil nature. From all of his battles and close brushes with death he is virtually unscathed, and because of that he thinks he is quite invincible. He stands up to people three times his size and age because he is a skilled fighter and because he has no problem killing someone who deserves it. Once he finds a justifiable reason for violence he will persue them with the speed and efficiency his years of military training taught him. Ryuu is a scary site to behold in the midst of fighting someone. Clicking his emotions off in a tense battle is a skill he learned long ago, and when Ryuu's soft face is replaced by the killer his family created it's a thing of nightmares.
Since his life was so regimented he has turned into a true free-spirit. The only 'routine' he now holds is going to work, and the rest of it just happens whenever. There are times he leaves his home cluttered in a silent protest for his dead parents to roll around in their graves, and other times when he gives in and cleans everything with quick and precise efficiency. He finds his wings take him anywhere in the kingdom he'd like to go faster than anything else, and he takes advantage of that on a regular basis. Sometimes he goes places just because he can, having no other motives than that.

past
At an early age Ryuu was taught discipline in a strict military fashion. His family was known for all serving in the military -- not leaving after their mandatory service was over. When Ryuu started to learn to walk and fly he was learning defensive combat. Air combat was the easiest for him, the wind seeming to bend and dance around his feathers as long as he concentrated well enough. While his parents told him magic was a good skill to use they did not give him the proper time to hone his abilities. Fighting was paramount, and he excelled with all the training his family forced him to have.
Having all male siblings besides his mother gave him a hard go-around. His brothers got in fights with him on a regular basis telling him it would help later in his life, but Ryuu believed they were just picking on him because he was an easier, inferior target to their skills. Failure was not an option with their family, especially when it came to combat. If you lost in training you were given double that amount of time to train again. When they were actually home there was still no relaxing. Chores were regimented, the boys cooked and cleaned for their parents, and the outside appearance of their home was kept pristine. Ryuu couldn't even enjoy a bath because it was always cut short by his brothers muscling him out of the bath to get more time for themselves.
All the infighting with his brothers and father made him excel eventually in both offensive and defensive combat. When fighting is all you knew to life and all you did there was only one way to go with your abilities. As the years went on Ryuu started to disappear during training much to his parents' and brothers' hatred. He would be punished for it, but Ryuu truly started hating it. Having it forced down his throat for so long made him resent everything about the military. While that was the case he had an exemplary service record, just like everyone else in his family.
During a battle against a neighboring village his entire family, including him, was sent to defend the city's royalty. The battle turned horribly against them, and during the bloody skirmish Ryuu witness both his parents die, holding of twice as many men so the royal family could be evacuated safely. While Ryuu escorted the family to safety, looking over his shoulder he saw both his mother and father get killed in gruesome fashion. It was his parents holding them off long enough that made them eventually retake-back the city, his parents hailed as perfect examples of bravery and strength.
While Ryuu privately mourned his parents, his brothers almost seemed unaffected by their deaths and that made Ryuu incredibly angry. It was a life of combat and duty that seemed to desensitize them, and Ryuu refused to be like that. Ryuu stayed in the military only out of duty to his parents, yet when he could no longer continue he dropped out of the military, his brothers becoming furious at him. They still fight to this day about Ryuu quitting and dishonoring their parents name, yet Ryuu refuses to cave in to them and rejoin.
After he left the military he took a 'sabbatical' to reset himself. He spent a lot of time practicing his magic and relearning his own personality when he stripped his military training and service out of his life. The time he had taught him that he really hated fighting and wanted nothing to do with it. Ryuu learned that he was more of an emotional being than he thought, and his worries of becoming an emotionless soldier had thankfully not came true. While searching for a purpose in life he found himself landing an important position in the city, protecting it from horrible weather catastrophes. Ryuu is quite pleased with his new lease on life, and now that he's finally settled into it he's started to get out and live his life.

family
01. Ishida Sakura || deceased || mother || Was the more forgiving of his two parents, but still very strict when it came to their military training. Died in battle defending the city beside her husband.
02. Ishida Morimoto || deceased || father || A hard, seemingly unfeeling man. He made it his mission to make Ryuu into his image -- and failed. Morimoto and Ryuu were fighting non-stop right before his death and that is something Ryuu regrets.
03. Ishida Bakuya || 45 || eldest brother || Has taken the mantle on for the Ishida family, holding a high regaled position in the military. Tries to live up to the accomplishments of their parents. He disowned Ryuu when he left the military, always taking time to try and contact his youngest brother to berate him and tell him what a disgrace to the family he is.
04. Ishida Aoi || 37 || older brother || While he still thinks Ryuu is a disgrace, he doesn't shove it in his face on a regular basis like his older brother. He can hold civil conversations with him, and feels more protective of him considering the death of their parents hit Ryuu the hardest. Envies his brother for being such a passionate soul.
05. Akash || 6 || companion pet eagle || harm her and suffer his wrath. He is protective over her like no other. He'd had her since she hatched from her egg. While he isn't at work, she is at his side at all times -- or somewhere incredibly close
