looks
He isn't the most gorgeous being in the kingdom, yet he definitely isn't the ugliest, either. Having both merfolk and elven qualities has seemed to put him at quite an advantage when it comes to his physical appearance -- which always helps with gathering crowds to see his performances. His elven genes only made him an inch or so taller than your normal sized human, and his ears have definitely gained those pointed ends that are the number one trait of their race. Most of the time, however, those points are hidden by the fluffy mess that is his hair.
His hair constantly changes color, mostly always connected to his certain performances around the kingdom and sometimes even his mood. Either he is always dissatisfied with it, or he gets bored with it way too quickly. He likes to think that changing his hair color keeps his fans and music lovers always coming back to his shows. Sure, some people come to performances to see what his new hair color is, right? His eyes are a deep chocolate brown, his eyelashes more akin to that of a woman than a man. While his face is slightly feminine in nature it is his high cheekbones and that slightly angular jawbone that sets him apart from looking completely like a female.
Lige's mother was an elf, and while his father was merfolk he still inherited a rather beautiful trait from him. It's rare for a hybrid to show physical characteristics from both sides of a family tree, but Lige was blessed with that in his genes. Merfolk have translucent scales that cover their body and make their skin glow and shine beautifully in some lights. Since he is a merfolk hybrid he has patches that cover his body of those same translucent scales. There are small patches under both of his eyes, patches down the sides of his neck under his ears, and patches that show randomly through his torso and down near his hip bones. His legs also sport a thin line of them as well, starting from his calves and going down to his ankles. Lige's back is completely bare of these patches. He keeps out of the sun on a regular basis, in his travels wearing clothes that cover as much of his skin as possible. He sunburns way too easily, and with his performance schedule he can't afford being out of commission from something so trivial as a sunburn.
Because of his rigorous practice and performance schedule he keeps his body in perfect shape. His muscles are toned in his arms and legs, as well as his abdomen. Oh sure, if you pinch him you'll find a little fat here and there -- he cheats on his diet a little bit more than he should sometimes, he just can't put down the chocolate. If he had his way he would always have a lollipop in his mouth. Sure, it's a bit childish for someone of his age to always want to be eating chocolate and having sugared candy...but everyone has their vices.

charms
First and foremost you will not find a more dedicated person in the kingdom. Well, you might, but that doesn't downplay his daily practice of the trait. He gets up sometimes before the sun rises to start practicing every single day. He has strict vocal routines he puts himself through to keep his voice in tiptop shape, and he makes sure that in his daily life he doesn't do anything that would get him sick, or somehow unable to sing or preform. Lige makes sure he maintains an exercise regimen so his body can last the physical requirements of his constant traveling and performing.
Lige soaks up attention like a sponge. He lives for the feelings he gets when those crowds scream his name, loves it when he sees no empty seats. The real reason behind his work ethic is that he is an attention-seeker. He wants to be the center of attention -- on that stage he is King, and all eyes should always be on him. Lige wears his stage-persona like an armor. He shows off, and gives it his all on the stage every single day if he's able. When his fans see him he will spend time with every single one, and while he craves the attention he is still humble that he has it. Without people coming to see his shows he'd have no one there to give him attention.
When he is in more intimate settings he is very guarded and can almost seem cold to people that try to have an honest conversation with him. It's like he doesn't know how to act around small groups of people, and one-on-one situations are even worse. Even at his age he is afraid of intimacy, afraid of opening up to someone and showing them who he really is. On the stage he is perfect, he gives his fans what they want, fills their hearts and minds with music, happiness. Taking away his singing, his dancing ...he feels like he has nothing else to offer people. Lige feels like he is already held up on such a pedestal that whatever he could offer personally would fail to compare. When those closest to Lige speak about him, they find there is still a lot they don't know about him, a lot of thoughts and opinions that he just doesn't share. All in all it just points to a work-horse of a man, struggling to open himself up to others.
It's rare that you will find Lige sitting still, or even relaxing. His leg always tapping and you will often hear him humming some kind of tune. With this pent up energy Lige can often times not know when enough is enough -- when to stop and sleep, or to take a break and sit down with a glass of water. His dedication makes him stubbornly work towards exhaustion. There has been only one recorded instance of him collapsing during a show -- something that still haunts him to this day. The reason there hasn't been anymore cases is because his assistants keep a close eye on him. Having worked with him for years they can easily tell when Lige is starting to hit the point of exhaustion. The stubborn man refuses to listen sometimes to those who look out for his well-being, yet they know that he will give in -- Lige gets fed up with nagging way too quickly, and his stubbornness will falter when he has to listen to people fuss over him.

past
When he was growing up he knew he was different from most. With Jinyin city being so isolated, with elves in the high majority of the population, he definitely stuck out during sunny days, and especially when he started to express his aptitude for singing and dance. Lige was a sponge when he was young, and that hasn't changed. Being the son of the Magistrate he was placed in the best of schooling, often times given private lessons. During schooling he watched as the other children started to come into and practice their magic. Often spending most of their day outside in the wilderness. The other children's deep connection with nature made him ...jealous. Sure, being a halfling he could still feel somewhat of a connection but he could tell, he knew he wasn't as connected to nature as everyone else. Watching his mother practice her magic also made him jealous and in his adolescence. He started showing attitude to those elves in his similar age group, pushing them away -- afraid that they would sense his jealousy and pick on him.
As his friends spent time in nature and worked on their magic he would go off and explore in the forest, finding secluded areas to try and eek out some kind of magical ability himself. He didn't want others to see him fail, yet being as stubborn as he was he had to try. With his mother being so skilled in magic, being the Magistrate's son, he felt like he had to make them proud. He would study his mother secretly as she communed with nature, honing her own abilities and Lige would copy her, her movements her words and songs. There was a time when he thought he was making progress, that he could swear he felt his body tingling, warming ....yet that is all that ever happened. It frustrated him, made him more negative about his real father, and why his mother felt the need to sleep with that merfolk. That alone started to sour his relationship with his mother. Instead of sitting by her side and trying to help her with her magic like a loving son he watched her from afar, keeping silent and still behind bushes and up in the tops of trees.
When his schooling ended he tied for the highest marks in class, and by that time he had almost completely isolated himself from others. Sure, he still speaks when spoken to, and every once and a while he would insert himself into a public situation to actually have contact with others. Everyone wanted to make a good impression on him because of who he was, they wanted to be his friend. He refused, however, to let people close to him and actively started being rude to others to push them away. He noticed his behavior and he hated himself for doing it. It made him more bitter, more guarded and secluded. With all his free-time he threw himself into his singing, and as years went by he started branching out into dancing as well.
It was his personal singing instructor that pushed him to perform during an official function for the city. He spent weeks practicing, and when it finally came time to perform that is when everyone truly realized how gifted his voice was and how mesmerizingly beautiful his dancing had become. His family knew all along his gifts, his mother especially and when venues around the city started requesting him to perform he refused. He'd done that performance for his family, in a sense of duty and honor. Yet when he was offered money for his talents, he found it boring. He was fine singing for himself, fine with dancing for his family, dancing for Nature. His family, and his older brother pushed him to perform and when he finally did step out on stage he was hooked.
The looks in people's eyes, the way they stared at him, hung on his voice and his movements....it was addicting. He quickly became booked, performing with his brother mostly at first and then branching out to more solo performances several years later. It was during one of his weeks of practicing that he heard whispers of fighting, or war in other cities far away from where they were. He kept it mostly out of his mind, focusing on training, and pushed himself too hard. He collapsed on stage the next day out of exhaustion. He was ordered by his father's doctors to take a month off of dancing and singing. No practicing, no nothing. He hummed in the face of the caretakers his parent's assigned to him in retaliation, yet he figured the relaxation might to him well.
He and one of his caretakers took a trip to the outside forests near the outskirts of the city. Lige found one of his favorite rivers, deciding to strip himself nude and float around facing into the sky. Like his mother did when he was younger he tried to attune himself to the water, to focus on it, to meditate. It was a rustle and noise from the forest that stirred him, and made his caretaker take guard by the riverside to defend him. Lige was shocked when a large group of people started to come towards them. They seemed panicked, afraid. A heart he had thought grown cold started to hurt for them as he learned their story, as he finally got the details of the war and fighting that he was trying to avoid. These people only sought peace and happiness. Lige took a representative of the group to his father, feeling invested in their needs as he tried to make sure his father would welcome them into their city. It was rare at this time to see other races other than elves in the walls of the city, and Lige reminded his father that he wasn't merely just an elf, either.
They were allowed to stay on the strict terms of peace, and as the new Empire formed their city and it's formidable position in the countryside that housed it, protected from the invading armies of the Empire. Lige was thankful, and was never more aware of the luck he had to be born here, and in Jinyin, protected from the horrible violence and grief of the outside world.
After the influx of new citizens to the city and when things calmed down, he started to perform again, filled with a new sense of earnestness to make people happy through his song and dance. He filled his schedule, and while he learned from his mistake in passing out on stage, he still kept pushing his limits on a daily basis, finding more ways to train and hone his abilities.
