looks
Minsoo, in looks alone, evokes some kind of protective instinct in most- kind of like an overgrown puppy that demands love and care from strangers and friends alike. There is a lot of power behind such innocent looks, though Minsoo doesn't realise it- but he can bring out the good nature in many people by doing little more than simply being himself.
Some may think thirteen is a little old for it, people will still pinch his squishy cheeks, ruffle his pale hair and talk to him like a small child. And it is hard to resist following suit- though he is still young, he looks younger still. His wide, innocent dark eyes, soft unscarred skin and plump pink lips that almost naturally curl up into his trademark lazy smile. He is a whole load of sweetness and adorableness wrapped into a single being. People have treated him well in life and it shows as he has no signs of stress or hardships in his features.
One of his only traits that gives away his age is his height. He has started shooting up in height only very recently so he still appears somewhat gangly and awkward and this lends to much of his awkwardness and clumsiness.

charms
For someone who is growing up in a temple dedicated to the deity of death, there is relatively little that stands out about Minsoo. He's a docile child and for the most part he is generally well behaved and is rarely intentionally badly behaved. He is as sociable as can be expected of a child and he attends most of his duties- he meditates when needed, studies and does the chores around the temple. In fact, he would almost be a perfect disciple already... But Minsoo is a very lazy child- He sleeps in almost everyday until someone will literally drag him out of bed and get him dressed and he leaves a little trail of mess wherever he goes. They're all habits that the other priests are trying desperately to correct.
And in the rare instance that he does come across other children, he tends to perk up and let out a bit of a mischievous streak. He never causes any serious trouble but can get a little smart for his own good- few people scold him above the use of a warning tone though, giving him a little time to be a normal child.
As a disciple, he does have a very good understanding of life and death and many come to listen to his advice. He is not wise beyond his years by any means but many insist that there is something about the way a child thinks and speaks that simplifies so many complications in life. He also takes part in much of the consulting in the temple- he does not speak much at all for these services, but will listen to the problems of others (often while hugging or holding hands) and people find it therapeutic in its own way.
There is little else to say on top of that- he is tone deaf and thus is left out of most hymns, he fancies himself an artist and will often show others his works (nobody has yet had the heart or persuasiveness to convince him to chase another hobby) and he wants to be a flower when he grows up.

past
Minutes after Minsoo's birth, his mother passed away. With no father and his mother having left no money, it may have been a life cut very short. But by the grace of the goddess Sei, Minsoo's mother was brought back as a drifter to care for him.
Although drifters had a nasty reputation, it didn't bother Minsoo in the slightest. He was only all the more grateful for every minute he had with his mother.
He was never educated, looking after his mother instead.
But eventually it got too hard for Minsoo to look after her alone so they travelled to Niji island to the temple of Shi. The priests were said to be specialised in aiding and helping drifters and the people around them- so she came with high hopes.
They took care of Minsoo's mother whilst the boy was educated and looked after in the temple. He was able to play and talk to the other children on the island and for the first time, his mother was at peace to finally see him being a child and having no worries or responsibilities he shouldn't have.
At that moment she faded, leaving the earth for good. Minsoo too, was relieved to know his mother was in a better place and had her heart at rest now.
Although it was their goal to see drifters through to their next life, nobody had quite prepared for raising a child in the temple. And though he was adorable, Minsoo left a mess everywhere he had been and ate his way through several portions of food a day- becoming quite a pain for the priests and priestesses there.
Eventually minsoo was asked to join the temple as one of it's disciples if he was to stay there. he happily accepted and has worked with the other priests since.
Minsoo is mainly used for the Shi temple's 'puppy therapy', in which he will happily lie or sit next to those in need and listen to their story, offering advice and just overdosing them on adorableness until they feel better.
+ minsoo came to realise how many people were upset because they had lost their children and has made it his goal to adopt himself some good parents so he can make someone else happy.
